FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino explodes James Comey on the ’86 47′ post
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino issued a sharp and public denunciation on Saturday of the James Comey Bureau, former director of the department, accusing the agency of shame when authorities investigated it. Comey’s controversial “86 47” Instagram post.
In a statement posted on x, Bongino said Comey’s actions are another example of leadership failures that continue to plague agents.
“Former FBI Director James Comey has brought shame to FBI badges over the past week,” writes Bongino. “The director and I have spent an incredible amount of time wiping away the mess left behind by former manager Comey, and his latest actions are no exception.”

“As the deputy director of the FBI, I am accused and standing with Director Patel to manage the world’s most powerful law enforcement agency. The Director and I also see the serious mistakes people within the FBI have made in the past and make sure they don’t happen again.”
He highlighted the FBI’s continued commitment to assist federal law enforcement partners investigating threats involving past or present civil servants.
“The FBI does not have a primary investigative responsibility to investigate threats to POTUS and does not make prosecutor decisions, but it has the capacity and authority to support other federal agencies for violations of federal law,” Bongino said.
“And we are certainly responsible for commenting on issues involving former FBI officials and allegations of violation of the law.”

Bongino noted that this latest controversy is part of the general legacy of dysfunction that he and Patel inherited from Coby’s leadership.

Bongino, a former NYPD officer and longtime Secret Service agent, was appointed deputy director of the FBI earlier this year.
His leadership under Coach Kash Patel reflects the broader efforts of the Trump administration to restore accountability and integrity to the FBI after years of what many consider to be politically motivated misconduct.
The FBI did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for further comment.
