Former ABC correspondent warns Trump will eliminate the US free press

Former ABC News correspondent Terry Moran On Tuesday, the US was worried that if President Donald Trump “cannot be stopped,” the US would soon lose free coverage.

Moran, who was fired from a network that worked for almost 28 years after posting a disastrous social media rant against Trump and White House aide Stephen Miller in June, discussed the media status with former MSNBC host Chris Matthews Subsack.

“Would you like to continue this?” Matthews asked. “Or is he going to keep going from network to network, to newspapers? … Are they willing to do what they have been or are they just trying to keep going with Globel?”

Moran made a bold prediction that the US would not have independent news as media organizations strip them of their power by the current administration.

“I think they’re going to get rid of the news department at some point, my prediction,” he told Matthews. “It’s stripped off them. Look, unless Trump stops, here’s the playbook. You’ll see it in all authoritarian countries.”

“(Viktor) Orban did it (Vladimir) Putin did it in the laws and judicial parties in Russia and Poland. They stripped the media.

Moran then raised the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to investigate ABC news around discussion moderator David Muir. Lindsay Davis’ Trump Facts Check During the presidential debate in 2024, he said he supported his opponent, former Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Muir hasn’t done anything wrong, but you know, these news operations and the laws governing the network are that they must operate in the public interest as defined by the Trump administration,” he warned. “At some point, they’ll find a reason to remove ownership of these things from the companies they currently own unless someone stops.”

The White House didn’t return anytime soon. Fox News Digital’sRequest for comment.

Shortly after leaving ABC, Moran said that being “objective” is not the job of a journalist.

The former ABC journalist was fired for calling Trump “world-class disgust.”

“My own feelings are that you don’t sacrifice your citizenship as a journalist. Your job is not objective,” he told Bluwork’s Tim Miller in a June interview with Subgel.

“There is no Olympus of objectivity where the mandarin class of wise people doesn’t have any feelings about their society,” he continued. “We’re all together. It’s fair and accurate what you have to be.”
