Former Giantz star Darren Waller shares details of his astonishing NFL retirement

After nine seasons with three different teams, Darren Waller I’m leaving the NFL After the 2023 season.

“I’ve decided to retire from soccer games,” he wrote on Instagram. “To God: What a journey, and thank you. We took it much more than we could imagine! I am so grateful for all the PPLs that were able to connect and create memories along the way.
Waller was 31 when he decided to call it quits.

“When we played for Buffalo, I knew I was retired,” Waller said during a recent appearance “Invisible side” Podcast. “It was a really controversial game because it was hugging me at the end and they didn’t call it.

“It was the first quarter of the game. We were doing this counter-lead running play. I’m leading the hole like a fullback and the play is working. But I’m sitting on the sideline like a drive I ran like three times.
That moment had a lasting impact on Waller. Waller said he was sitting on the bystander staring at the sky.

“I’m just looking at the moon – it’s the early days of the first quarter (or the second quarter). And I really don’t know I’m thinking about this, but I’m like, “Yeah. I’m going to make the most of my abilities this year, but this year will definitely be over.”

Waller finished a short stint with the Giants with 552 receiving yards and one touchdown. He spent a turbulent season, including short hospitalizations. He missed several games due to a hamstring injury in week 8.

Leaving the field, 2024 marked the end of Waller’s marriage as a WNBA star Kelsey Plum. The two filed for divorce in Las Vegas in April 2024.
