Former MMA star Ben Askren undergoes double lung transplant after pneumonia

former UFC Amy, the wife of fighter Ben Askren, revealed that her husband had undergone a double lung transplant.
Askren is in the hospital and has been treated for several weeks for severe cases of pneumonia. Amy Aklen writes that her husband was on life for a while before he received the transplant.
She wrote on Facebook On Monday, it was waiting for donors for weeks, when her husband finally found it.

“We are forever grateful to the donor and his family,” Amy wrote. “This is the beginning of Ben’s new lifestyle, but a gift for every new day he has. It’s still not realistic that he had walked perfectly healthy just five weeks ago.
“Ben keeps his body in your prayer that new lungs will welcome as if they were his own.”

Amy said on June 24th that Ben was on the port list.
A donation page was set up earlier this month to fund Askren’s treatment, and Amy was updated nine days after it went live to say Ben was on a ventilator.
She added that the doctor “sede away enough sedation for him to open his eyes and squeeze his hands.”

“I am constantly adored at all the people who carry us now,” Amy continued. “I can’t wait to tell Ben all about it. I hope Ben will be able to offer the next update in the coming weeks, but hopefully he will wait until the drugs go away.”
Askren retired from mixed martial arts in 2019 after owning a 19-2 record. He only fought three times in the UFC and won only one of his matches.
In 2021 he fought too Jake Paul In a boxing match, he was knocked out in the first round.
Paul recently said he plans to donate to Askren to help with medical expenses after him. Recent battles For Julio Sázer Chavez Jr.

Askren is also a wrestler, winning two NCAA titles and representing the United States at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
