Former Supreme Court Judge David Starr died at the age of 85.
former supreme court Judge David Starr died Thursday at the age of 85 at his New Hampshire home, the court announced Friday.
“Judge Star was appointed to court by President George Howe Bush in 1990 and retired in 2009 after serving for more than 19 years,” he said in a statement.
“Judge David Starr served our courts with a distinction for nearly 20 years, and he brought uncommon wisdom and kindness to the life of public service after his retirement to his beloved. New Hampshire In 2009, he sat regularly in the First Circuit Court of Appeals for over a decade, continuing his important services to our branch. He’s going to be overlooked a lot,” Chief John Roberts said.
Star was described by the Associated Press as “a surely free vote on abortion, church-state relations, freedom of expression and federal court accessibility.”

The Supreme Court said the star was born on September 17, 1939 in Melrose, Massachusetts.
He graduated from Harvard University and earned degrees from Oxford University and Harvard Law School.

Suter then rose to rank in 1976 to become New Hampshire Attorney General.
“In 1978 he was appointed as a quasi-judge for the New Hampshire Superior Court and in 1983 he was appointed as a deputy judge for the New Hampshire Supreme Court. He became a judge for the First Circuit Court of Appeals on May 25, 1990.”

“In addition to hearings in the First Circuit, Judge Starr participated in efforts to reform civic education curriculum in New Hampshire during his retirement,” he said.
