Former WNBA star Angel McCourtley made a critical comment Chicago Sky Rookie Haley Vanlis is a former TCU female basketball player who follows social media.
McCoughtry suggested in a recent interview with a podcast that Van Lis may not have been seen on WNBA If she didn’t follow big social media. Van Lis was one of the most followed college athletes on social media. She has 1.3 million followers on Instagram alone.

“If Haley Van Liss had 10,000 followers, would she be in the league? “Daily W.” “To be honest, we’re just talking about her real talent. We’re robbing her followers. If she only had 10,000 followers, would she be in the league?”
“Haley Van Liss, she’s a decent player,” McCoftley added. “Are there any players out there that could be better than Haley Van Lis? I believe so. They’re not popular.”
Van Liss was a solid security guard at Louisville at the start of his college career. She averaged 15.4 points and 2.5 assists for the Cardinals from 2020 to 2023. He moved to LSU, playing with Angel Reese, Frauje Johnson and Anesa Morrow before relocating to finish his college career at TCU.

McCoughtry’s comments were analyzed throughout social media over the course of a week, and he apologized during a live Instagram session over the weekend.
“I just know, I know I don’t hate me. I don’t hate anyone and those words never come out of my mouth,” she said. CBS Sports. “The mistake I made right now was to give points on the wrong stream. I shouldn’t have used a particular player to create an example of the points I was trying to do, and I want to apologise for that.

McCoughtry also starred in Louisville before becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 draft. Atlanta’s dreams. Van Lis has been limited to bench roles during his previous rookie season. She averages 5.1 points and 1.5 assists per game in 10 games.
