Four Dark Horse candidates who can win the Super Bowl MVP
Several Hall of Fame and NFL greats have been named Super Bowl MVPs for many years. Patrick Mahomes is the MVP of all the Super Bowls he has won. Meanwhile, Tom Brady has won five Super Bowl MVP awards.
At the same time, some of the lesser known people surprised everyone and played the best game of their life in the Super Bowl. Former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith has never made the Pro Bowl and has played for six different teams, recording six picks, fumble recovery and 10 tackles before the Super Bowl XLVIII. It was named MVP. Dexter Jackson’s defense, who has never won All-Pro or Pro Bowl honors, is another player selected as the Super Bowl MVP despite not having a great career outside of the big game.
Everything can happen in the Super Bowl. Mahomes and Saquon Barkley could be the most valuable players in the game, but both teams have a few individuals who can stun NFL fans and pick them as MVPs.
There are four Dark Horse candidates who can earn Super Bowl Lix MVP honors.
Dallas Goederat too. Eagles
It’s no secret that I’m expensive Dallas went This is the first time since Philadelphia punched tickets to Super Bowl Ricks. He is fifth in the playoffs by receiving yards (188) and second in reception (15). These are his numbers out of all the pass catchers in the postseason. Looking at only the tight end, he’s second at reception, second at first down, one yard for one yard.
Goedert had a regular season down, but that’s because he missed time due to injuries. He only played in 10 regular season matchups, but he still managed to make 42 catches with 496 receiving yards and two touchdowns. It doesn’t sound like much, but it ranks sixth among all the tight ends in the NFL this season. What’s even more crazy is that he was all selected to the Pro Bowl, with five other tight ends averaged on average per game.
Kansas City did a good job of containing the Buffalo Bills tight end, but that wasn’t when they played the Houston Texans. The Houston tight end was only targeted five times in the divisional round, but caught all five passes on 65 receiving yards. I’m not rude about Dalton Schultz and Irv Smith Jr., but I think Dallas Goedert is a much more serious reception threat than either of them.
With two weeks of preparation and a Chiefs defense that allows 20.5% of all passing yards to go to tight ends, if Dallas Gaedart is to win this Sunday, it’s a big part of Philadelphia’s offense. I think it could happen.
Kareem Hunt, RB. chief
Rookie Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy was another choice for Chiefs offensive MVP Dark Horse, but I don’t think anyone would be shocked if Worthy was selected as the game’s most valuable player. Not there. He leads KC at this postseason reception and is second to receive the yard behind Travis Kelce.
Considering whether he’s in this postseason, I think Kareem Hunt will be a much more surprising MVP winner.
In his eighth year as a professional, the 2017 NFL rushing yard leader was signed to the Chiefs practice team in September after Isia Pacheco began breaking his fibre in the second week. Pacheco returned to action in week 13, but he hasn’t looked the same since.
As Pacheco struggles, the Hunt is a Bellcaw in Kansas City. He averaged 54 yards and a touchdown per game in the playoffs. He posted these numbers against the Texans (ranked No. 1 against runs in the playoffs) and the Bills (ranked No. 6 against runs in the playoffs).
The Eagles have rushed to surrender for 4.5 yards, so we could see Kareem Hunt giving him over 90 yards of touchdowns this weekend. If Patrick Mahomes is held for just under 220 yards of passing and one touchdown, Hunt’s performance should be enough to earn him MVP honors.
Lead Blankenship, db. Eagles
The Eagles’ defenses are definitely piled up. Defensive lineman Jalen Carter appeared as one of the most dominant players in the league who remembers the incredible 20 pressures in the playoffs. Linebacker Zack Baun played like a defensive player of the year candidate with a total of 26 tackles, forced fumbles, intercepts and two fumble recovery.
One of the people who could be appointed as MVP for Super Bowl LIX has been seen. However, the defensive backreed Blankenship could come out of nowhere and be selected as the game’s most valuable player.
Blankenship has a total of 24 tackles in the postseason, fourth of all players and second of safety. According to the focus of the pro football, he has too Only 7 receptions allowed He is seen third among 49 postseason safety in the playoffs. To get excited, he forced a fumble against the Green Bay Packers and made a key fumble recovery in the NFC Championship Game.
His stat line is fantastic and if you want to win an MVP, you’ll need to replicate that type of performance in the Super Bowl.
I’m totally hoping he’ll get some tackles. After all, he averages eight tackles in the playoffs in total per game. Unfortunately, making lots of tackles isn’t enough to win a Super Bowl MVP. Blankenship will cause at least one sales (forced fumble, fumble recovery, or intercept) and if you want to be nominated as the most valuable player in the game, you will need to record at least half the bag.
Nick Bolton, LB. chief
Defensive lineman Chills Jones was Kansas City’s best defender. He nominated All-Propolo six times, earning Pro Bowl honors. He pays a lot of credit and attention for the success of the Chiefs, and of course! However, linebacker Nick Bolton was KC’s nameless hero.
As a rookie, Bolton has totaled 112 tackles. Then in 2022, when the Chief began appearing in this three straight Super Bowl, he increased his tackle output to 180 during the regular season (second in the NFL). He missed a few games in 2023, but he led all players with final postseason total tackles at 40.
Bolton may not lead the Chief in tackles this postseason, but he played 135 defensive snaps. 7th Total Snap Among the 53 linebackers in the playoffs, according to PFF. The fact that he does a lot makes him a major candidate to become an MVP.
If he wants to be the most valuable player in Super Bowl LIX, he needs to get after the quarterback. Thankfully, he showed his ability to rush passersby. Among the playoffline backers, he is sixth in the pass rush snap and fourth in total pressure.
However, Bolton needs to improve pass coverage. Despite playing his seventh coverage snap among postseason linebackers, he ranks 32nd in the allowed passerby rating.
Like Lead Blankenship, Nick Bolton could potentially record many tackles. At least we could see him having six tackles in total. If he plunders Philadelphia quarterback one or two times and scores a few hit passes, he will have a strong case to become a Super Bowl MVP.
