Longtime Fox News Media Field Producer Robert Schaffer passed away Saturday after a long illness, the company announced.

CEO Suzanne Scott and President and Executive Editor Jay Wallace have announced Fox News Media Shaffer’s tragic handed over colleague who was handed over to a company note on Monday.

“I have a favourite memory of announcing the passing of longtime Seattle-based field producer Robert Schaffer, who passed away on Saturday after a long illness. Fox News Channel’s The LA station moved to the Seattle station in 2002 as an assignment editor/field producer in 2000. As an Iowa City native and a graduate of the University of Iowa, he loved breaking the news as much as his beloved Hawk-eye football and basketball teams,” wrote Scott and Wallace.

“Through 25 years at Fox News Media, Robert traveled extensively as a field producer, covering wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel and Lebanon. During the Iraq War, he spent several months at Kabul and Bagram Air Bases, and regularly rotated in Baghdad. “He also created many stories about Boeing, from the issue of lithium-ion batteries to global grounding of the 737 Max 8, making regular trips to Alaska, where he produced many years of battles opening drilling permits and the Arctic National Wildlife Shelter.

Shaffer also made a significant contribution to Fox News during multiple election cycles.

“Robert covered the presidential candidate when he crossed Iowa ahead of aowa. He also covered wildfires, floods, hurricanes and countless protests throughout his time at the FNC.

“Robert’s quick wit, hard work, kindness and Midwest charm have made him a favorite of the field team across Fox News media,” they added. “We will do our deepest pathetic dol to his wife, Michele, and to his whole family.”
