Genusplus wins 100MW Meredinbes $45 million contract in Australia
Genusplus Group has been awarded a $655 million ($45.13 million) contract by ATMOS Renewables to design and build the Meredin Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Western Australia and a substation awarded by ATMOS Renewables.
The 100MW 4-hour capacity Merredin Bess project will increase grid stability and contribute to energy security within the local electricity market.
This project was jointly developed by Atmos Renewables, Nomad Energy and Nomad Energy in April 2024, ensuring approval for the development.
Work on this project is subject to the issuance of Atmos Renewables, which will issue a notice to proceed after the fiscal closure, expected in June/July 2025.
The genus will manage the detailed design, procurement, installation and civil engineering work of the project for 18 months after receiving a progressive notification.
The company employs 70 staff to complete the project and utilizes considerable content from Western Australia’s locals.

The Meredinbeth Project is located 7.5 km southwest of the town of Meredin, approximately 230 km east of Perth in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.
It is adjacent to the existing Meredin Solar Farm, close to both the Great Eastern Highway and Bruce Rock Meredin Road.
The project will be connected to Western Power’s transmission substation at the nearby Meredin Terminal Station upon completion in early 2027.
In January 2025, the genus won $270 million ($167 million) contract From Western Electric Power, Clean Energy Link, a Northern Regional Project in Western Australia.
