George Kambosos Jr. calls Teofimo Lopez “Dumbus,” demanding a rematch on neutral grass, and questioning Lopez’s desire to resolve his score

George Kambosos Jr. says he’s open to fighting a rematch with Teofimo Lopez on neutral grass, but he’s not going to do that in his hometown of New York. Kambosos (21-3, 10 Kos) doesn’t think Teofimo wants a rematch after beating him in a 12-round split-decision victory in 2021.

The Threat of Wyllie

Former unified lightweight champion Cambosos Jr. has the headlines against his replacement Jake Whyley (16-1, 15 KOs) at Dozen this Saturday in a 12-round contest at Kudosbank Arena at Sydney Olympic Park in Sydney, Australia. George chose Whitey, but that could be a tougher fight than many would expect. Wyllie is 24 years old and he has youth and power on his side.

To make sense, Theofimo (21-1, 13 KO) will need to defeat Arnold B. Barboza Jr. on May 2nd and defeat IBF welterweight champion “Boots” Ennis in October. If he loses both of those fights, it is pointless for Cambosus to head towards him again.

Cambosos is about to turn his career around with his fight on Saturday. He was knocked out in 11 rounds in Perth, Australia last May by Vasily Lomachenko, and since then he has become inactive. It was a punishing battle for Cambosus. I’ve never done anything good to him on my days off.

Neutral grass?

“I’m looking forward to what will happen in that fight. Fighting Hub TV About Theo Fimolopez’s match against Arnold Barboza Jr. on May 2nd.

“Arnold linked up and said, ‘We should end up having a big fight.’ Yes, we’re definitely rooting for him for now, as he’s become a fool.

“We see what happens to him in the ring.

If a rematch occurs, Teofimo must occur in 2026 as he has two fights before him on the Riyadh season card. The best thing Cambossos can do is continue to win and look good, and there is a possibility that Theofimo will turn his attention to him next year.
