Google loses appeal than an App Store overhaul in the epic game case
Google has lost the judge’s court order appeal calling for the tech giant to revamp the App Store under antitrust laws filed by Fortnite Maker Epic Games. Reuters Reported on Thursday.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Google’s argument that the judge made a legal mistake in an antitrust case in which the epic game was unfairly endorsed.
Epic Games first filed a lawsuit in 2020, allowing the ju judges to convince Google that in 2023 Google had illegally competed. The judge ordered Google last October Open the App Store to your rivals and give Android users more choice when it comes to downloading apps. The order was pending until Google’s appealing results came out.
Google has argued in the Court of Appeal that the Play Store competes with Apple’s App Store, and that it unfairly prevented the judge from presenting that argument in Epic’s antitrust defense.
