Google’s AI mode will feature a new “canvas” feature and real-time help live.

Google announced on Tuesday that it will be adding new features AI Modean experimental feature that allows users to delve deeper into topics directly within searches, seeking complex questions and follow-ups.

One of the new features, Canvas helps you build learning plans and organize information through multiple sessions on the side panel. For example, if you want to create a study plan for future tests, you can start by clicking the (Create New Canvas) button. From there, AI modes start to put things together on the canvas side panel and continue to refine the output with follow-up prompts until they fit what you’re looking for.

Soon you can also customize your study guide by uploading files such as class notes and syllabus. Users registered in the AI-mode LABS experiment in the US will see the canvas in the coming weeks.

Google also offers Project Astra functionality directly to AI mode through Search Live, integrated with Google Lens, Tech Giant’s Visual Search Tool.

“It’s like when you go to a live show in search, the speed dial experts can see what you’re looking and talk about tricky concepts in real time.

To use this feature, open the lens in the Google app, tap the live icon, and point the camera at something and ask questions. This feature allows users to use the visual context of the camera feed to have a previous and subsequent conversation with searches in AI mode.

Additionally, Google has announced that users can quickly use the lens in AI mode to ask what’s on their desktop screen.

“Maybe you’re looking at a geometry problem and want to get a better understanding of one of the diagrams,” Stein said. “From the address bar, click “Ask Google About this page” and select a diagram. Get an AI overview using a snapshot of key information in the side panel. This week, you will be able to follow up more questions through AI mode by selecting AI mode at the top of the lens search results or by clicking the “Dive Deeper” button at the bottom of the AI overview.

Additionally, you can use AI mode in the Google app to ask questions about images, but you can also do so on the desktop. Google also adds support for PDF uploading to your desktop, allowing you to ask more detailed questions about the documentation.

For example, you can upload PDF slides from your school lectures and ask follow-up questions to deepen your understanding beyond class materials.

According to Google, AI mode will support additional file types beyond PDF and images later this year, including Google Drive files.
