Google’s GeminiAI can personalize results based on search queries
Google has a model Gemini I’m even more personal. This week, the company has enabled a new personalization tool, and Broadcast Browse your search history to enhance and deepen its responses.
In a blog post, The company said Analyze queries, cross-reference searches, and provide “responses related to contexts that adapt to individual benefits.”
Google said that not only answering common questions, but also understanding you better is part of a broader strategy. It added that it only refers to search results if it determines it can significantly improve the output.
“We only use our search history if we believe that an advanced inference model is actually useful,” the company said in a blog post. “Early testers discovered Gemini with personalization that helps them brainstorming and get personalized recommendations. They continue to collect user feedback on the most useful applications of this feature.”
Some examples provided by Google could potentially link a response to something you already know about your interests: “Where should I take a vacation this summer?” or “I want to start a YouTube channel but need some content ideas.”
Growth trends
This initiative coincides with the growth trends of high-tech companies, especially ChatGpt-Maker Openai, aims to make AI more intuitive, recognize context, and provide a deeper understanding of user needs and preferences.
The tool features an experimental Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking model, but provides an overview of its inference and displays data cited from previous searches. Google also said it explicitly asks for permission before connecting to your search history or any other app.
It was originally launched in over 45 languages as an experimental feature for Gemini and Gemini Advanced subscribers (for now only on the web), and will expand to mobile over time.
The company also announced that it is being rolled out. Deep research tools Free for all Gemini users. The tools announced in December are similar to Openai features with the same name. It aims to save time by acting as an individual AI research assistant and searching and integrating information from the entire web in minutes.
User trust is essential
Google said it will combine it with newly upgraded deep search and the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Model to provide real-time inference while browsing the web as part of its efforts to improve the quality of its reports.
Jitesh Ubrani, an analyst at market research firm IDC, told CNET that the move towards personalization is to increase the use and excitement of technology. However, he also warned that profit should not be at the expense of users’ trust.
“It’s important for Google and other companies to provide consumers with the right tools to alleviate concerns, as privacy concerns are guaranteed,” he said. “Most importantly, this should be something that users choose to opt in rather than opt out.”
