Hamzah Sheeraz predicts Canelo Alvarez Stoppage has won Terence Crawford.
Hamzah Sheeraz predicts a “stop” victory over Terence Crawford by Canelo Alvarez in the battle in Las Vegas on September 13th. He feels “there is a weight class for reasons”, and thinks the two division jumps Crawford (41-0, 31 KO) makes for this fight is too big for his body to handle.
Age, layoff hurts Crawford
Crawford is not young, turning 38 in September, cheating on his part-time fighter career since 2020.
In Crawford’s final fight, he made his debut with 154, leaving his 13-month layoffs. Rather than staying at 154 to oppose the Young Lions, Crawford is moving two divisions for his fight against incontroversial super middleweight champion Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs). It doesn’t look very good to Terence.
Canelo’s strength and size advantages
“My perspective on that is #1. There’s a weight class for a reason,” Hamza Sheelaz said. fighthype When asked about his thoughts on Terrence Crawford, he raised two weight classes to challenge the incontroversial super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.
In Crawford’s final battle in 154, it was clear that he had reached the ceiling of what could be done to his frame. He would not have been the dominant junior middleweight fighter who was in the 147, 140, and 135 in his time. If he had been staying at 154, he would likely be beaten by a younger, physically larger and stronger fighter in his weight class.
Madrimov exposed Crawford’s ceiling
He won’t go back to that department because the text is on the wall. Israil Madrimov exposed him. Of course, Crawford didn’t move to 160 to fight the champions in that category, as it would be even worse for him. He’s too small and old.
“And if we were based on their final performance, I think Canelo had a better performance despite the negative fighter (William Skull) ahead of him,” Hamza said. “And it feels like Crawford has had a bit of a struggle with (Isreil) Madrimov’s physicality. Yeah, it’s very physical and it feels like he’s had a hard time with it.”
Sheilaz puts it lightly when Crawford says he had a hard time with Madrimov. He was undoubtedly beaten by him, but was bailed out by three judges in the fight. They won 115-113, 116-112 and 115-113 at Crawford.
I watched the fight and had a 7-5 for Madrimov (115-113). He landed cleaner punches in every round of the fight. Crawford threw more punches than Madrimov, 433-275, but only 11 more landed. He had tied Terence with a knot mentally.
Canelo’s strength and size advantages
“You need to remember. Canelo is a big guy. He’s strong,” Sheilaz said. “He knows how to use his size, but at the same time, at that level he is so skilled he can’t amortize a fighter like Crawford.
Crawford may land more shots than Canelo, but that’s similar to his fight with Madrimov. His shots get much weaker. The judges are not going to give Canelo any business because he is a superstar. They get it fairly and give him a decision. If you’re Crawford, you should try knockouts because he’s not going to get the cheap victory he did in his final fight.
“But if I had to spend money on it, I would put the money in Canelo and win via stop,” Sheilaz said.
Following William Skull’s blueprint on how to run distances with Mexican stars, it would be hard for Canelo to knock Crawford out as he is likely to be fully running rounds. It’s ugly, but at least Crawford can claim moral victory.
