Haney’s move to 147: Robert Garcia looks at Ramirez’s benefits and anticipates power and potential finish enhancement in Times Square Battle
Jose Ramirez trainer Robert Garcia says Team Devin Haney hopes his weight increases from 144 to 147 due to Honey Ramirez’s co-specific fight on May 2 at Times Square in New York City.
Robert says he is full of their demands and feels that the extra weight will benefit Ramirez (29-2, 18 Kos) more and hit him harder. Former WBC and WBO light welterweight champion Ramirez looks remarkably strong in training camp in this fight and hits with knockout powers that could bring Haney (31-0, 15 KOS) issues.
Avoid weight cuts
It’s no surprise that 26-year-old Haney hopes to gain weight to the welterweight limit at 147. Because if he stayed hydrated in the mid-160s, it would be great for him to take off the week of battle. Devin should have fought in his huge frame at welterweight or junior middleweight a few years ago.
With the big buck rematch that Ryan Garcia watts in crisis in the battle on May 2, Devin couldn’t afford to be under 100%, and was physically exhausted during a 2012 contest with US Olympic Ramirez.
Haney vs. Ramirez is the co-fiance of Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero Card on May 2nd. The event will be displayed I live in Dazen PPV.
“Jose is motivated when he hears Mexicans cheer him on. Ramirez signed a contract of 144 and now I think he’s looking for a 147. KO Artist Sports Devin Haney’s team hopes to hit welterweight restrictions at 147 in Times Square, New York on May 2nd in the fight against Jose Ramirez.
Ramirez, 32, is about to end when Kingley began at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Brooklyn, New York on April 20th last year. Ryan didn’t finish Haney due to stamina issues, but Ramirez has excellent cardio and continues to pour out the whole fight. If he’s in trouble, he’ll finish him.
Devin’s retention pattern
Trainer Robert Garcia is clearly working on a strategy for Ramirez to deal with Haney’s constant retention. Devin used a non-stop clinch against Ryan to prevent him from being knocked out in the seventh round. Had Ryan known how to effectively neutralize that tactic, he would have stopped Haney in that round.
“He’s a tall guy and has been 140 over the years. At 147, I think he’ll be very strong,” said trainer Robert of Ramirez. “He goes outside and sways because he doesn’t have to cut his final seven pounds and his confidence and his body feels so comfortable.
“I think it’s going to benefit Jose. Devin Haney is a big boy, so it’s going to be comfortable,” Robert Garcia said of how he benefits from gaining weight more than Haney.
