HD Hyundai delivers H-line to develop AI-powered autonomous vessel technology
HD Hyundai participated in the Memorandum (MOU) with H-line delivery to jointly develop AI-based autonomous and environmentally friendly marine technology.
The initiative aims to integrate AI into various aspects of vessel operations to increase efficiency, safety and environmental sustainability.
The collaboration will focus on advances in autonomous navigation, engine automation, optimal route planning and freight transport efficiency.
The MOU was signed at Pangyo’s HD Hyundai Global R&D Centre, bringing together executives from both companies.
The agreement includes HD Korean Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), HD Hyundai Marine Solution and Avikus with H-Line Shipping.
This article outlines a joint development project to confirm integration of Avikus’ autonomous navigation solution HINAS, HD Hyundai Marine Solution’s optimal routing solution Oceanwise, and HD KSOE’s AI-based freight management system AI-CHS.
HD Hyundai manages technology integration and implementation, while H-Line delivery contributes to LNG carriers for SEA testing and technology verification.
The goal is to increase the safety and lifespan of the vessel while reducing fuel consumption and operating costs.

The partnership aims to meet the growing demand for AI applications in maritime shipping and the strict environmental regulations set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
