Honey’s comeback to Ramirez draws criticism from Russell Jr.

Gary Russell Jr. says Devin Haney’s first fight since his defeat with Ryan Garcia, using Jose Ramirez as his comeback opponent in May is a sign of weakness.

Former WBC and WBO light welterweight champion Ramirez is a warm-up fight to prepare for a rematch with Ryan in October. Former two-division world champion Haney (31-0, 15 KO) will earn a lot of money in a rematch with Kingley in February 2026, fighting the possibility of Theofimo Lopez.

A stepping stone

It’s still a dangerous battle for Devin, as Ramirez is better than anyone other than Vasily Lomachenko. Russell Jr. shows that Haney’s tune-up opponent is what his management is trying to do, so Ramirez (29-2, 18 Kos)’s choice “Save” His career.

Team Haney is a wise move by the team as he received many punishments for a 12-round majority decision loss at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 20th last year. Devin was dropped three times and suffered a jaw injury.

It’s stupid for Haney to jump in right away. Shark I was 147 13 months after the ring. The fight with Ramirez takes place in the welterweight and Devin’s debut in this weight class despite being rehydrated in the 160s.

The 2012 US Olympian Ramirez was a pretty good puncher at 140 and could be even stronger at 147. Russell focuses on Ramirez’s unanimous decision loss in the last 10 rounds to Arnold Barboza Jr. on November 16th.

Barboza Jr outlined Ramirez, but he did a good job of getting it closer in the end with unforgiving pressure. The scores were 97-93, 96-94, and 96-94.

“What happened at Ryan, this isn’t someone to go back and fight,” said Gary Russell Jr. Millcity Boxing About Devin Haney, who will return to former WBC and WBO light welterweight champion Joseramirez in May. “You are assumed now, I’m going to fight anyone now. Anyone can get it.”

“Now I lost. It’s okay, I’ll try and make him fight that there.” They’re trying to maintain his career. That’s what people do. I understand that. I understand that you are trying to maintain your career, but looking within Devin Haney and them, you are supposed to do the best for you. ”

Russell Jr. doesn’t give any examples of people who think he should fight at 147 for his comeback. There are not many options for candidates available in the department. Jose Ramirez defeated most candidates in the 147 pound division.

The only decent fighters in the division are Eymantas Stanionis, Jaron Ennis, Brian Norman Jr. and Mario Barrios. Ramirez gives them all a problem. Ennis is probably too much for him, but he’s going to have some great shots to beat the other three champions.

“If that’s a route that feels like you need to take everything, then you do it. There’s the other side of it. People say, ‘Damn, he just lost. He lost, he ran. “I hope he will come back, but he’s now back violently. Now you’re back with it (Jose Ramirez). It’s not coming back very hard. You had to choose your poison and do the best for you,” Russell Jr. said of Haney.

“Sometimes,” what these people think. It depends on what you are looking. If you’re planning on being a big dog, then NAH,” Russell Jr. said. “But if you’re planning on maintaining the load on your head. “I’ll go ahead and get what I can get.”

Haney basically ignores what people think about him. Because if he was focused on them, he would face someone who was really dangerous and likely to lose.
