How Boston Dynamics Atlas Sees the World
Boston Dynamics has revealed new details about how Atlas Humanoid Robot sees and interacts with the world around it.
The robot’s eye views were oriented to space by placing two-dimensional images captured by an onboard camera, information from Atlas’ joints, combined with 3D images of the environment to measure depth, and trained CAD files of objects whose robots were oriented towards space.
Boston Dynamics’ latest Atlas update includes a detailed breakdown of how robots see the world.
Atlas consistently updates perceptions of the world around them in order to respond to changes in the environment (such as when Boston Dynamics employees move things or drop objects on the floor).
