How does Apple’s new spotlight compare to Raycast?
It includes all sorts of actions out of the box. You can set a timer by adding calendar appointments and reminders. You can send text messages and start FaceTime Call. You can also set dedicated keyboard shortcuts for any of these actions.
It is also accurate that Raycasts have not been able to do that spotlight in the past. The difference is one of the implementations. Apple’s approach currently only works with Mac applications that implement Spotlight functionality. Currently, it’s basically limited to Apple’s own tools, but that’s different. According to Apple’s presentation for developersthird-party applications can also add actions that can be performed from within the spotlight. I have not been able to find a non-apple application that implements this at the moment, but I am sure it will change as autumn approaches.

Raycast, on the other hand, can be enhanced with user-built extensions that can be easily installed from the built-in store. This has a drawback, mainly that if you want to connect applications, you will need to install and configure the extension. But that’s not difficult. The built-in store offers hundreds of these extensions and you can install them with a few keystrokes. These extensions can connect to not only services that have MAC apps, but also to any service that supports web-only services like Google Docs. Many of these extensions offer features that never come with spotlights, such as calendar appointments and custom menu bar icons that are currently playing on Spotify. I was able to continue. Raycast’s approach is simply flexible.
Right now, I think Raycast is a better choice for power users. However, it may change as more applications add support for spotlights. That can change, especially given the fact that users don’t have to install or set up anything to get new features in the spotlight.
Actual Clipboard Manager
