How nonprofit CEOs have used 200 businesses to help attract billions of people in child care as part of Trump’s big beautiful bill

– Childcare victory. Recently handed over “One big beautiful bill” Everything has a wide range of effects Income tax Student loans for immigrants. One undervalued aspect of the law involves billions of dollars in child-related tax cuts. This is a rare victory over the pocket book issues that Washington normally overlooks.

Reshma Saujani, CEO of Advocacy Organization Moms First, says the key to gaining investment is gaining and suing companies to voters across the political spectrum. Knowing the tax bill would be the first major opportunity for the Second Trump administration to address childcare, Saujani says the organization focused on building a strategy involving more than 200 businesses and bipartisan parents defending federal relief. Earlier this year, it included representatives from more than 50 employers. UPS, Toyotaand Mazda traveled to Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers and took on demand actions. In fact, Saujani was “overwhelmed” by the company’s willingness to support it.

“You know, childcare has been seen as a personal issue for women and workers, but it is not a financial obligation,” says Saujani. “We knew we needed to make a point to businesses… When we were in those offices, many Republicans and Democrats pointed out, frankly, this was the first time a business was in their office to advocate for childcare.”

It’s easy to give up goals during the Republican administration, but the party is resisting expanding its parenting and paid leave policy – Sauhani and Mom moved forward first: Since January, they have partnered with conservative pollers to better understand what messaging conveys in administration and help inform 25,000 parents that parenting should be a priority, in addition to visiting Congress. The fact that businesses were eager to support and Republicans expanded tax cuts shows just how pronounced the problem has become for all political stripe families.

“We knew we needed to make it clear that childcare is an affordable link pin. This president and Congress were elected affordable,” she says.

The strategy worked. The tax credits included in the bill that Mom originally proposed are:

  • Children and Dependency Care Tax Credit, or CDCTC: It will expand forever This credit for parents who worked for the first time since 2001.
  • Employer-provided childcare credits: Last updated in 2001, triple the maximum credit for employers to help employees position or provide childcare.
  • Dependency Care Support Plan, or DCAP: Increases the amount before tax, allowing parents to pay these flexible spending plans to pay childcare costs from up to $5,000 to up to $7,500 per year. This was the last time Updated in 1986.

Child tax credits increased from $2,000 to $2,200 per child. While tax credits are a victory, the bill also includes provisions that say experts will harm families, especially those with low incomes. After next year’s midterm elections, the new law will significantly cut Medicaid funding. Covers 41% of all births In the United States, we provide care to millions of children with disabilities. Funds for nutritional benefits, including families with children, will also be cut. But Saujani says the organization is not waiting for “the perfect moment” or the perfect law. They fight at every opportunity.

“What we realised in this advocacy is that progress has not been wiped out and is progressive,” she says. “We are in a once-in-a-lifetime generational battle for parenting. That means they have to celebrate victory, even incomplete.”
