How to automate the latest technology in different sectors
The majority of small businesses use artificial intelligence and find that they can save time and money.
Artificial intelligence and automation are often used interchangeably. Technology is similar, but concepts are different. Automation is often used to reduce human labor for everyday or predictable tasks, but AI ultimately simulates the intelligence of humans who can act independently.
“Artificial intelligence is a way to make workers more productive, and whether it increases productivity leads to more work depends on a field-by-field basis,” said Gregory Allen, senior advisor to Wadwani AI Center, the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “A past example of agriculture and other automation in the 1920s was that about one of the three American workers worked on farms, and at that point there were around 100 million Americans. Today there are over 300 million countries, but less than 1% of Americans work on farms.”
A similar trend occurred throughout Manufacturing sector. At the end of 2000, there were more than 17 million manufacturing workers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. As of June, there were 12.7 million workers. A study from the University of Chicago found that automation had little impact on overall employment, but robots had an impact on the manufacturing sector.

When asked about their initial response to technology without a set of listed responses, only 3% of voters expressed fear at the AI threat to their work, according to Fox News Polling. Overall, 43% gave negative reviews and 26% responded positively.

“What we see in the wave of technology is that there are adjustments the economy has to make, but ultimately it makes our economy more dynamic,” said White House AI and Crypto Czar David Sacks. “It increases the wealth of our economy and the size of our economy, and ultimately improves productivity and wages.”
Driverless cars also use AI to safely crash into the road. Waymo always determines its location using detailed maps and real-time sensor data.
“The more you send these vehicles with a bundle of sensors that collect data for every additional miles, the more data they create for that training data set,” Allen said.
Even major league sports use automation, and sometimes artificial intelligence. Researchers at the University of Waterloo in Canada use AI algorithms and a stadium camera system to analyze the performance of major league baseball pitchers. The Baltimore Orioles co-funded a project called Pitchernet. This helps improve your form and prevent injuries. Using Hawk-Eye Innovations Camera Systems and smartphone video, researchers created a 3D model pitcher that allows athletes and trainers to study from multiple angles. Unlike most videos, the model removes the blur and gives a more clear view of the pitcher’s movements. Researchers also use pitchnet technology in other sports such as batting and hockey and basketball.

The same technology is also used as part of automated ball strike systems or ABS testing. Triple A minor league teams use what is called Robot judge Over the past few seasons. The team tested both the situation in which technology was called all pitches and the situation in which it was used as a challenge system. Major League Baseball also began testing its challenge system at 13 Spring Training Parks in Florida and Arizona in February and March this year.
Each team began the game with two tasks. The batter, pitcher and catcher were the only players who could compete for a ball strike call. If the original call of the referee was confirmed, the team lost the challenge. The system allowed the judges to keep their jobs, but the call to the Strike Zone was slightly more accurate. According to MLB, only 2.6% of calls were challenged throughout the spring training game that incorporates ABS. 52.2% of these challenges have been overturned. The catcher had a success rate of 56%, followed by 50% batters and 41% pitchers.

Triple-A announced last summer that it would move to a complete challenge system. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in June that MLB could incorporate an automated system in 2026 into the regular season. Athletic Report Major League teams use the same challenge system from spring training, and human referees still make most of the calls.
Many companies in other sectors agree that machines should not be monitored.
“I think we should always ensure that AI is under human control,” said Microsoft vice-chairman and President Brad Smith. “One of the first suggestions we made in early 2023 was to ensure that AI always has an off switch and emergency braking. This is how high-speed trains work, and that’s how you wear school bus clothes.
