I feel like I’m home in Barcelona

Marcus Rashford claimed he “enjoy playing here” after completing his seasonal loan move to Barcelona.

The 27-year-old has been frozen at Manchester United after failing to fit Reuben Amorim’s plans, spending the second half of last season at Aston Villa, scoring four goals in 17 games.

The summer settlement at Old Trafford always seemed a distant sight, with reports suggesting it was his preferred destination to get his career back on track.

And because the financial issues of the Catalan giants meant they were looking for quality players without high prices in the sky, it quickly became the perfect arrangement for all three parties.

Barcelona has the option to make the move permanent due to undisclosed totals next summer.

Best cut price deal for Barcelona

The short-term contract offers Rashford a great opportunity to play for another club in the world, and he can also bet on his claims for the location of the England team in the 2026 World Cup.

He states: “I’m very excited. I think it’s a club that all players want to play. They made me feel like I’m home this first time. Everyone made me feel very comfortable.

“I’ve always loved watching good football. I think I’m going to enjoy playing here. It’s a family club with great players playing.”

Barca won the Spanish League and Cup double under Hansiflik last year, claiming that working for the Germans is another factor that he wants to participate.

He added: “My conversation with him has been very positive. He has proven to be one of the top coaches. He wants to bring his younger teams to such a successful season and more.

“As a new player, I am truly grateful for the love my fans are giving me. I feel like I’m home.”

Rashford, who scored 138 goals and played 426 times for United, was given the number 14 shirt and became the first British player to represent Braugarana since Gary Rhineker in 1989.

He hopes that his parent club will flourish under Amorim this season, but he has been unable to hide his joy in getting the opportunity to move on.

“Manchester United is in a period of change,” he said. “Manchester is a very important part of my life, things didn’t go as I had hoped for recently, but now is where I wanted to be.

“I took the step I wanted and I wish you (United) all the best. I hope they succeed and enjoy it here.”

I’m happy and healthy – Rashford

Rashford’s final months at United have largely been unhappy with players accused of lack of effort, and United are desperately trying to stack his wages.

He appears to be revitalised in the villa, and claims he is trying to build on that experience.

“I’m happy and healthy,” he said. “I know I’ve improved over the last six months. Things in my life have changed not only from the sport itself, but also with my discipline.

“I’m happy to be here and enjoy this club. It’s a different country, the club is different and I’m prepared for this new experience.”
