I tested the OnePlus Watch3 and its battery life won

I’ve been testing the $330 OnePlus Watch 3 for 48 hours and so far I’ve found it to be a great power. Smartwatch It is wrapped in a sophisticated, understated design. OnePlus aims to compete with Android rivals by providing robust health and fitness features. usually use.

I was skeptical because I’ve heard similar promises about smartwatch batteries before. Companies often extend battery life, but only to fill in fine print that requires a power saving mode. Removed the “smart” feature and makes the watch just a glorious digital clock. I was delighted that the default settings on Watch 3 feature fully utilized. Usually it is always visible when it is normally active.

The only change I made was replacing the face of an analog style watch that showed battery life at a glance along with workout shortcuts, weather and fitness tracking. A big mistake. After all, I unconsciously chose one of the worst criminals – three levels 3 on the Wear OS Battery Drain Scale.

During the first two days on Watch 3, it is used to receive text and email notifications, track an hour of outdoor driving with GPS, record indoor strength training, Track your sleep for 2 nights. As a result, the Watch 3 battery dropped to 50% within the first 48 hours.

It won’t hit much in the promised 5 days, but you’ll need to get a 4-day battery life of 3 to 4 days on a single charge. Android Smartwatch I’m struggling to keep three. For my full review, I switch to the low power watch face to see if it can be pushed into OnePlus’ 5-day claim.

There’s more to unleash the Watch 3, but so far I’m happy and amazed.

Battery life is the main focus

The best feature of the Watch 3 is its battery life after two days of testing.

OnePlus’ claim to fame was initially to offer high-quality devices at a more affordable price than its high-end competitors such as Samsung and Google. And the fourth watch 3 of the Chinese company aims to shake up some of its traditions.

Unlike the original OnePlus Watch for $160 And last year $180 Watch 2rits low price is its main attraction, and the Watch 3 prioritizes a more premium appeal over a low price. OnePlus wants to make the Watch 3 a premium flagship device, and competes directly with other Watch OS devices. Google Pixel Watch 3 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. What makes it stand out is the battery life if it is provided.

OnePlus claims that the Watch 3 can last for five days with default settings. This is thanks to a large 631MAH battery and a dual chipset system focused on app use using Snapdragon W5 processors, the BES2800 MCU efficiency chip handles low power background tasks.

I was impressed with the battery life of my Watch 3 despite choosing to use the battery-thirsty watch face in my first two days. It’s worth noting that the Watch 3 has a super power saving mode.

Design upgrades and interfaces

This is what makes the OnePlus Watch 3 seem to be coming soon.

The OnePlus Watch 3 retains its predecessor’s sophisticated stainless steel design and has several notable upgrades. It has a rotating crown with a grip texture and a titanium bezel surrounding the screen. This is thinner and stays in place, but I like how it elevates the design and doesn’t look like a huge circular 1.5 inch AMOLED display strapped around the wrist. The screen is bright and can be easily seen in direct sunlight. The watch is in silver or black and comes with rubber straps that are comfortable for both day and night.

Watch 3 runs on Wear OS 5. 1Plus design and features have been added. This is like an Ohealth app that you need to download on your phone to access the full range of health tracking features on your Watch.

The Watch 3 interface is a bit slower and a slightly delayed response time. It’s difficult to tell if this is a problem with the clothing OS, or if it’s a real watch, or if the navigation is not completely seamless. However, it has improved as I was used to buttons and gestures. The interface is also not particularly intuitive. – Some settings like Workout View require digging through menus (known wear OS issues). I also had problems setting up an account in the Ohealth app and syncing it with Google health data. This could be due to using the developer version of the app, but it’s still a hassle.

Accessing all your health data via the Ohealth app wasn’t too bad thanks to its visual and user-friendly interface.

Health and fitness features

This watch reveals OnePlus’ investment in health and wellness. In addition to basics such as heart rate and calories, we also measure more subtle health indicators such as cardiovascular health, SPO2, wrist temperature, and general well-being (including emotional and stress levels), but some There is no warning. None of these features FDA approvedthat is, they are not intended to be used as medical grade data. Additionally, ECG features are not available in the US or Canada. Watch 3 also doesn’t have a menstrual health tracking (in my opinion, surveillance). In particular, standard wrist temperature monitoring of your main rivals can be extremely useful for ovulation tracking.

Watch 3 will also debut 60-second health check-in. This is the ability to check all vitals in one place by pressing your finger on the bottom button of the watch. My first health check-in was a concern, and I displayed a red exclamation point next to it with the word “abnormal.” Upon further examination, I found that all my vitals were in range, but it was my sleep score that distorted the results. I admit that my sleep habits aren’t very strong, partly because of my 1 year old daughter, but I would argue that I deserve at least a passing grade.

When it comes to fitness, the OnePlus Watch 3 covers all the basics and features over 100 different sport modes, six of which automatically detect running, walking, rowing, oval machines, cycling and swimming It will be done. It also offers a “professional” mode for 11 sports that retain tabs of more subtle metrics related to that sport. For runners, they track their form and foot balance, while for tennis players, they measure swing speed and stroke. As a runner who has learned how to use and strengthen your heart rate zone, this may be too much for most people. trainingI’m excited to make these additional metrics nerd.

Another important feature for outdoor sports enthusiasts is its double frequency GPS tracking system. This argues that OnePlus can accurately place it in challenging environments, such as busy cities surrounded by high rises. I live in a completely different environment and have more sheep than skyscrapers, so I couldn’t fully test this claim. It perfectly placed me on my regular trail run through oak trees and vineyards.

The IP69 rating also shows that the OnePlus Watch 3 is water resistant up to 50 meters.

Everything else

I will dive deeper over the next few days and test some of the other features of the Watch 3. But for now, if the battery life is at the top of the smartwatch wish list, this is definitely one of the Android smartwatches worth considering.

OnePlus Watch 3 will be available on Presale through the OnePlus website and has an official release date of February 25th.
