Having played 365 matches in India and claimed more than 700 international wickets, Halbhajan revealed that cricket setbacks often ripple over his home, affecting those closest to him. “Sports should be played like sports, and that shouldn’t be everything in our lives,” he recalls. “I used to fight my wife when things weren’t challenging on the field. You bring that mood back to the house. That anger permeates in our daily conversations at home. What’s wrong with them?” The 45-year-old asked, suggesting that his inability to separate his personal and professional life led to moments of regret.

He confessed further, “Looking back, I had a bad tour and after I got back, I had many times when I didn’t properly talk to my family. I regret those moments. I didn’t have time and I messed up it. When my sister came to see me, I didn’t talk to her.”

Harbhajan warned of the pressures of professional sports to consume personal happiness, urging young athletes to focus on finding balance. “Sports should not be seen as everything and the end of life. It’s important to draw healthy boundaries between work and family.” He had a consultation. These admissions come as an important departure from the image that is often associated with elite athletes.
