Inaki Williams blames Barcelona for their relationship with Nico brothers and Athletic Bilbao fans
Inaki Williams accused Barcelona of launching a media campaign aimed at “defiling” his brother Nico and his relationship with Athletic Bilbao.
Inaki, the elder of the two brothers, was speaking this morning in her new role as athletic captain at a press conference dominated by questions about Barka’s long pursuits. Nico ended with the Spanish winger signing an extension until 2035.
Barca didn’t hide the fact that they were chasing Nico Sports director Deco even insisted he wanted to move to Catalonia – Words urged by angry athletic fans to destroy Nico’s murals in Bilbao and destroy the windows of players’ cars.
Much of what was said about Nico was a lie
Inaki said: “There was a lot of talk about my siblings, so it was a bit complicated on a family level. A lot of what was said about Nico is a lie. The only thing he did was stay silent.
“My brother’s decision wasn’t easy. His maturity was incredible.
“He had a lot of offers and there were a lot of teams that bid him, so he could choose, he is the highest level player.
“It happened that the murals were destroyed and the windows of his car were dirty…
“He decided with heart and ambition. He was with us and decided to leave his legacy here, as Julen Guerrero did in his time.
External noise caused damage – Inaki
It was a surprise when Nico committed athletic with all the noise emanating from the Catalan press.
That was not a coincidence, according to Inaki.
He added:
“The media campaign that I thought would probably work for them. When I exercise as a club, I want to do it in a quiet way to the players. That external noise caused a lot of damage and it was said and leaked into the media, or it was a lie, so much of what it was on social networks, so it was a lie.”
