Iran’s top leader Ayatollah Alikhamenei sleeps all day and uses drugs, but most of the country lacks access to clean water and electricity, according to social media accounts related to Israeli national intelligence.

“How can a leader lead by sleeping half a day and spending the other half in substance?” Mossad’s Farsi account wrote on X on Friday. “Water, electricity, life!”

“Consuming drugs and talking to the spirit is not a desirable trait for those leading the country,” he explained on July 9th.

The account responded to the “lucky winner” who guessed the name Ali Abdulhai Alibadi and told him to “contact me personally to receive your award.”

The satirical jabs and provocative claims that come from the account are different from the way Mossads normally communicate generally, but the two intelligence agencies tell Israeli news outlet JFeed that the unusual Mossad-related accounts look real.

“Some of the information it shared may have only come from Mossad,” Benny Sabti, an Iranian expert at the Israeli National Security Institute and a former IDF Persian executive, told the outlet.

Hamenei’s alleged drug use has been proposed in the past, with Iranian scholars saying in 2022 Iranian top leaders often using drugs.
