Is Manchester united? Reuben Amorim’s men are once again moved by hitting Bournemouth.
Manchester United’s promising preseason continued last night, with boss Reuben Amorim admitting he appears to be a “different team” after passing through Bournemouth 4-1 in Chicago.
Following on from their weekend’s victory at West Ham, United once again looked sharp against Cherry, dominating the whole thing. The goals of Rasmus Hojlund and Patrick Dorgu gave Amado Dialo and Ethan Williams a comfortable half-time lead with a addition of gloss after the break.
Matthijs de Ligt scored a goal in two minutes and offered comfort to Bournemouth, but that did little to stop United players from a growing sense of grasping Amorim’s philosophy in the end.
Amorim welcomes Manchester United’s increased strength
The Portuguese said: “We played in strength. We’re offensive and that’s something we need to improve since last season. We have better possessions than they’re hearing compared to the last game.
“Of course, scoring first at the start of the game can change the team’s confidence. We feel like we change some positions and know what they need to do in different positions.
“It was a good test. We controlled Evanilson and (Antoine) Cemen Yowan very well and Lukeshaw was really strong too.
“It’s just a pre-season game, but the same player (it) looks like a different team, and that’s a good sign.”
Hojlund delivers to Manchester United
Hojlund’s goals and all-around performance were another big positive for Amorim.
The Danish striker scored a small Premier League goal last season, making him seem lost at times. But he returned from a summer break carrying the air of a man who was determined to prove his critics wrong.
Amorim added: “The important thing is, I think people are focused on their goals and they are struggling with a lot of things because they lack goals.
“I think it’s not just the goal, but the way he connects plays every time he kicks the ball.
“His ability to hold the defender and connect with support helps us play better, and we play better because he plays better.
“I’m really happy with Rasmus. I don’t know what will happen until the end of the market. The important thing is that the strikers here are really working really well, they’re improving, they’re helping the team, and that’s the most important thing.”
United will be in a clash with Everton in Atlanta on Sunday.
