I’ve seen the expansion of the new Star Wars villain, and Arsoka fans will love it
Disney Villainous and its many iterations have been with us since 2018 and consistently The best board game to give as a gift. The way to constantly evolve and reinvent it is part of its appeal, and a branding opportunity at Disney’s disposal. Star Wars villains have been my favorite for a long time – I am a giant Star Wars nerd born on Star Wars Day – it’s always fun to play as a villain in the Star Wars universe.
To be precise, this summer, July 21st, the latest Expandalone to base Star Wars’ Villainous Game is ongoing. It’s called Star Wars Villains: Cold Tactics, And it brings you two new villains for you to play: Count Douk and General Sloan can earn the honor of being box art. Pre-orders are now available at target If you’re already sure you want it.
Before we get into more details, the word Expandalone needs some explanation. Each villain expansion can be added to the full game, allowing you to choose the villain you want to play in a larger format. It can also be played out of the box immediately as a standalone game of two players without owning the original game. This gives you the freedom to buy only the villains you want and keep it in a two-player game.
Cold Tactics adds new victory targets to each of the two villains that can be played. Count Dooku needs active organizations at each location in his sector. To do this, you will need to defeat Jedi and persuade those organizations to move from neutral to active. I haven’t spent any practical time in the game yet, but the image shows three Jedi. Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Arso Catano – Technically, “There’s no Jedi”, but you’re getting an idea. It makes sense to have Ahsoka as the other villain, General Sloan, is set to appear in the new season of the Disney Plus Show, Asoka.
Admiral Sloan, in all his blue glory, is the main villain of cold tactics and has a unique sector board. His aim is to deploy the 7th Fleet and occupy four main locations on the board by collecting artifacts. Once these locations are occupied, you can reverse the tile to the “occupy” state. Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger are heroes to stop you. Your allies include Morgan Elsbeth and Beiran Squall.
Cold Tactics feel more like a tactical game, well, than any other Star Wars iteration. If you’re familiar with Admiral’s Sloan, this should not be a shock. Whether you read his books, enjoyed Star Wars, the Rebels, or the only experience with him comes from Ahsoka’s TV shows, you know that tactics and strategies are his. The need to occupy or control a place is a fun mechanic, adding layers of difficulties and positive thoughts that are new to the franchise. The villain’s goals are often more localized – collect eight lightsabers and defeat Luke Skywalker.
