Jadon Sancho “can do well,” says Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca
Enzo Maresca admitted that Jadon Sancho could “do better,” but refused to discuss the long-term future of the winger on loan at Chelsea.
Sancho will join Manchester United’s blues in the summer and will be contracted to be paid permanent in the £25 million region at the end of the season.
However, it has been reported in recent weeks that Chelsea had been considering sending the former Borussia Dortmund man back to Old Trafford despite it costing £5 million to break his contract.

That would be another blow to the 25-year-old who didn’t shine at Stamford Bridge after a bright start.
It’s not just Jadon – Maresca
Faced with Tottenham’s side tomorrow night, Maresca said he was “happy” to all the players, but when asked what summer could bring, he said he wasn’t a commitment.
He states:
“It’s true, he can do better in terms of numbers, but definitely not Jadon alone. We have a lot of players in the same situation.
“I don’t need to give Yadon a message. I talk to him every day. I had a conversation with him yesterday. He needs to keep doing his best until the very end. That’s what we want from Jadon.”
Maresca focused on the finishing season
Chelsea entered the match round in fourth place, with Maresca firmly focused on trying to secure a Champions League spot.
He added:
“We’ll see what happens in the summer. I’m happy with all the players here.”
Chelsea have been suffering from injuries recently, but several key offensive players have returned due to the Spurs visit.
“Cole (Palmer) is back, he’s fine. Noni (Maduce) is better. Nico (Jackson) is better. They’re all good,” he added.
“We’ve said it a lot, it’s a game for players and when they’re not there, you struggle.
“This is what we have had incredible months this season for five or six months, then six or seven injuries and we lost something.
“From the first day, (players) have given them everything. The attitude is always, every day, and even last week, because they know how important they are to come. Every game is going to be important.
Chelsea don’t underestimate Tottenham
The Spurs are 14th in the Premier League table, but Maresca knows it will be a tough game against North London rivals.
“It’s a huge game,” he said. “We know how important it is to our fans and our clubs, and it is also important to try and finish where we are.
“We have a lot of great players at Tottenham, but no matter who plays, it will be a derby, and it is the Premier League and you can struggle with any team.
“We want them to be directly and quickly when they press high. They can’t be directly and quickly when they sit back. In the last three home games, they’re all playing games with all the players behind the ball.
“If we win, we can build momentum in the end. They are all important games, all three points. You need to win as many games as possible.
