Jim Leighton will be at the helm of the village gourmet food

Village Gourmet, a producer of American premium meat, charcoal grills and specialized snack products, has appointed Jim Leighton as new CEO.

Layton, appointed on June 9th, will replace David Kemp.

KEMP has been CEO since January 2020, and will remain a member of the board of directors and a business partner.

In a statement issued on June 24, Village Gourmet said Leighton has more than 30 years of experience in the “growth” of food and consumer packaging commodity companies through “excellent excellence, brand innovation, and market expansion.”

His background includes roles as senior executives at Perdue Farms, Boulder Brands, Ingham’s Group and Conagra Foods.

According to Kemp, Leighton’s “proven ability to lead purpose-driven food companies and deliver results will make him an ideal leader in village gourmet as he enters the next stage of growth.”

Layton praised Kemp, “together and expand the five authentic heritage brands to shape what they proudly know as village gourmet.”

Supported by private equity, Village Gourmet owns three small pigs, Fabricedelis and Longhini Sausage, and the highest quality sausage brand of Uncle Charlie’s sausage, Esposito.

Since its founding in 2015, the company has expanded its portfolio by acquiring three small pigs.

In August 2021, middle market private equity company Quad-C Management acquired a majority stake in Village Gourmet.

Over the next five years, the company completed four additional acquisitions, each adding a new professional heritage brand to its portfolio.

Under Leighton’s leadership, Village Gourmet will continue to explore “new growth opportunities.”

Commenting on his appointment, Leighton said:

“Village Gourmet has a unique location in the marketplace and we look forward to working with our team to continue to provide excellence to our customers and partners.”
