Just as Jackson sees red in shock defeat, results, report, goals

Chelsea’s hope to reach the Club World Cup knockout was shattered by the ramp-stretched Flamengo side, who came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory in Philadelphia.

Despite leading Pedro Neto in the first half, Enzo Maresca’s team suffered from a breakdown in the second half, admitting three times and finishing the match with 10 men.

It was a chaotic, undisciplined performance from Chelsea. Chelsea started to be bright enough.

Pedro Neto capitalized the lucky Ricochet past the 15-minute mark, softening Rossi and calming down to cover the second goal of the tournament.

Despite moving forward, Chelsea didn’t control it. Flamengo gained momentum and was unlucky to not level it out before the break.

A goal line clearance from Levi Colwill and a few smart stops from Robert Sanchez advanced on the Premier League side, but there was a sense that they were on luck.

In the second half, Flamengo threatened the lively Garson and Araujo and put pressure on the 69th minute.

The flowing movement allowed Plata to nod a deep cross across the goal, allowing alternative Bruno Henrique to make the far post equalizer home and home.

Chelsea had little time to respond before they were late. Just four minutes later, Flamengo’s horns caused confusion in the box. Henrique was once again involved, causing a wild celebration among Brazilian fans as Danilo faced the ball across the six-yard area to stab the house on a stretch.

Things got worse almost immediately. Nicholas Jackson was brought forward in the moment and left for a reckless stud-up challenge, exacerbating the already tragic six-minute spell, from Chelsea leading to the trail and down the man.

Flamengo continued to exploit Chelsea’s chaos, leaving eight minutes on the clock to seal the victory. Fresh from the bench, 20-year-old Wallace Yang links with Plata in the box and, albeit by chance, finds himself holding the ball with the ball after a shot of his teammate peeled off from him.

Chelsea seeking a response to the stop time, choking up some dangerous set pieces that Madueke has come alive from the bench and plagued Flamengo’s defense, but there was no way back.
