K-12 Over 250 CEOs open letters supporting AI and computer science education


Over 250 CEOs signed Open Letter Published Monday in the New York Times, AI and computer science are seeking “core components” of the K-12 curriculum.

Signatories, including Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Etsy CEO Josh Silverman and Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, argue that computer science and AI education are essential to “keeping the competition in America.”

“Country such as Brazil, China, (south) South Korea and Singapore have already made computer science or AI mandatory for all students,” the letter reads. “The US is behind. In the age of AI, children must prepare for the future to become not just consumers but AI creators.”

The letter arrives as President Donald Trump’s administration is in operation Shaping new US AI policy – And as deep reductions to federal programs risk hurting basic AI research. Last week, Trump issued an executive order to promote the integration of K-12, higher education and AI in the workplace through industry-academic partnerships.
