A Kansas woman was convicted by a federal ju judge for shooting her and killing her Army Soldier Her husband was at her home in Fort Riley in February 2024.
On Friday, officials from the U.S. Lawyers’ Office district in Kansas announced that 31-year-old Margaret E. Chafe has been found guilty of murder in her second degree for shooting and killing her husband, Army SPC. Greg Shaffe was a soldier assigned to Fort Riley. Military facilities in Kansas.

“Greg stayed by Margaret’s side while he was hospitalized in Kansas City for pregnancy and for his stay in Sidona’s NICU,” the obituary reads. “Greg loved his family so much, and Sidona was Greg’s pride and joy. She was truly a daddy girl.”
Shafe lived with his one-year-old daughter and stepdaughter Margaret, the obituary says.

It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting and motivation.
Officials added that the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Office of Emergency Services have investigated the case.
