Kentucky mother, 7-year-old daughter of nine people killed in the flood
At least nine are dead with mother and her 7-year-old daughter in Kentucky Officials said Sunday after severe floods hit the state.
The mother and child were cleaned in the Bonniville community Saturday night in Kentucky’s Bonniville community, Hart County Coroner Tony Roberts said.
Roberts said the child’s body was recovered late Saturday night, but Hart County Search and Rescue said the mother’s body was recovered Sunday afternoon. Wnky-TV reported. The mother and child identities were not released immediately.
The majority of Kentucky deaths were caused by cars stuck in high water, Kentucky Gov. Andy Besher said Sunday.

“So, I’ll just stay away from the road and live off the road,” he said. “This is the search and rescue phase and I am extremely proud of everyone in Kentucky out there and put their lives on the line.”

Besher said There have been 1,000 rescues statewide since the storm began on Saturday. The storm has launched electricity to around 39,000 homes, but Besher warned that harsh winds in some areas could halt.
