Kentucky State Police Investigation Baptist Church shooting hurt troopers

Kentucky officials are investigating a shooting involving an officer with a suspect allegedly injured a worshiper at a Baptist church.

In a statement regarding the X, Kentucky State Police (KSP) said it was investigating the Fayette County shooting that occurred at 11:36am on Sunday.

The now-dead suspect is said to have fled to Richmond Road Baptist Church In Lexington. The shooting began in a different place than the church.

“The suspect shoots the trooper and then runs away from the scene. Richmond Road Baptist Church, At that time, the KSP and the Lexington Police Department were able to secure suspects,” the post said.

“At this point, we can confirm that the troopers are seeing a doctor,” police added. “There are multiple victims in the church. EMS is on the scene. The suspect is dead.”

Gov. Andy Besher posted about the shooting at X and asked everyone to pray for the victims.

“Pray for everyone affected by these meaningless acts of violence. Let’s thank the quick response by the Lexington Police Department and the Kentucky Police Department,” the governor wrote.

“Details are still emerging and we will share more information available.”
