Keyshaun Davis declared:

Keyshawn Davis says he doesn’t know if he’ll fight again. He sounded confused about what he wanted to do in his career after missing out on weight for a fight in Norfolk on June 7th. He says fans should talk to Top Rank if he wants to go back into the ring and see him.

Davis: Talk to the promoter

The “businessman” has retired. He’s gone. If I come back, talk to my promoter. Talk to people at high levels. Social Media. “At this point, I’ve retired. I’m boxing now, I’m a bit late now. I might say I’ve retired.”

Keyshaun’s statement, “I’m approaching retirement,” suggesting he is disillusioned with his career. He appears to be dealing with self-doubt over whether he has the talent to beat the best talent at age 140.

If Davis moves to a light welterweight, some fighters could reveal him as badly as Andycruz did repeatedly in amateurs. He talks about Ernest Mercado, Gary Anchanne Russell, Sabrielle Matthias, Richardson Hitchens and Alberto Puero.

Businessman boxing exit

“I’ve already bought a house, so all I have to do is pay a mortgage. There’s no need to emphasize going back to the ring. I don’t know when I’ll come back. I don’t know if it’ll be 140 or 135,” Keyshawn said.

Even if Top Rank gets Keyshaun back, their matchmakers won’t be able to keep him forever. They managed to build a 12-0 record with weak opposition and avoid risking skins against fighter jets such as Andy Cruz, Abdullah Mason, Raymond Muratala and Jaidier Herrera. But they can’t continue doing anything on the next network they move on.

Some fans believe that the reason ESPN cut its ties with Top Rank is because Matchmakers lacked too many one-sided fights in the drama. They did too good for the job of matching top-ranked fighters in battles that are not 50-50 people but Gim.

Keyshaun is the perfect example. None of his fights were possible for him to lose. He’s always been a favorite. That’s not because he’s the best fighter in the lightweight division.

If he is forced to match a fighter like Keyshawn in a 50-50 fight, or a fighter who is the 140 loser on the next broadcast platform he travels to, his career could sink because he is not invincible.

He looked like that in the past due to the way he was matched. Bob Alm needs to get some different matchmakers, getting clues to match fighters like Keyshaun in sinks and swimming fights. They cannot protect him and other fighters in the stable forever, forever, without burning the bridge at the new broadcasting station.

If this is about trying to get top rank to pay him more, then it probably won’t work. The longer Keyshaun stays out of the ring, the less valuable he will be to his promoter. He doesn’t have a great career like a sport legend.

Keyshawn took over the WBO 135 pound title with clever matchmaking. He didn’t have to fight anyone good to get a title shot, and he fought the weakest link among champions Dennis Belinczk to win his belt.
