The Knicks were a heavy underdog to enter the series, as the defending champion boasted the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, which was better than the 51-31 Knicks in 10 games.

However, the Knicks won the first two games of the series in Boston, overcoming a 20-point deficit late in both times, changing the outlook for the series.

The Celtics ultimately won Game 3 in a biased 115-93 game, bringing the series back on track with a solid lead throughout the first four quarters of Game 4. However, another furious Knicks comeback paired with Celtic star Jason Tatum, who is struggling with torn Achilles, bringing the Knicks to 3-1 with all momentum.

Without Tatum, the Celtics were able to eat up elimination at home with a 127-102 victory in Game 5. However, when the series returned to Madison Square Garden, the Celtics quickly outperformed, appearing to have fallen into a deep deficit in Game 6 early in the game.

Now, the Celtics are heading home in the face of uncertainty about next season, with Tatum being set to face a long recovery process.

The Knicks are looking to return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, facing the Indiana Pacers, who lost in the conference semi-finals last year.
