Leicester City v Manchester United: lineup, statistics, preview

Manchester United gave a glimpse of what they locked up and pretended to lie under Reuben Amorim to see Real Sociedad in the Europa League last night.

United have sidelined the La Liga club against Bruno Fernandez, who scored a hat-trick that included two penalties. A 4-1 victory completed the 5-2 tally victory.

The current challenge is to replicate its performance levels regularly.

United are 14th in the Premier League, and Amorim is determined to improve it before the season goes on.

He said: “Everything matters, and we need to continue this feeling that we can win the game. No matter what rest or time is needed to prepare for the next game.

“We have to be humbled and forget about the table. We need to win to improve our position at the table. Most importantly, we continue to continue this sense of victory and we are improving as a team.”

United will face the familiar face of Leicester boss Rude van Nastelroy this weekend.

The Dutch were part of Eric Ten Hag’s coaching staff and then led the team tentatively until Amorim took over.

He doesn’t find it easily in Leicester, and they play record six top flight games at home without points or goals.

It inevitably leads to anxiety among supporters, and Van Nistellouis is eager to give them something to cheer on.

“The recent game and structure changes with Chelsea have been positive,” he said. “It’s something we want to build, develop and do better in our home games.

“We felt that away support has incredibly helped us. As managers and as a team, we recognize that there are some sections where we can oppose the team when things are difficult, but there is definitely a big section among our fans who support us, and I would like to emphasize that they are there.

“Our performance tells us what the crowd’s response is. For us, it’s the key to bringing it on the pitch on Sunday and bringing the crowd behind us.”

Leicester City v Manchester United team news

Leicester has a nearly full strength team, as only winger Abdul Fatau is not available.

Fullback Ricardo Pereira made a late cameo at Chelsea last week. He was his first appearance for four months, but he may have to settle in the bench with Van Nistellouis, who sticks to the 5-2-1-2 formation.

United will need to make Manuel Ugarte available again, and he may replace Casemiro.

Mason Mount starts on the bench, and Amorim hopes that Harry Maguire will be enough to name his team as well. Patrick Dorg serves the second game with a domestic ban of three matches.
