Bangladesh captain Litton Das leads batting revival
After being batted by tossed Sri Lanka, Bangladesh navigated through the first challenge and posted a horrifying total of 177 against 7 in the allocated 20 overs. The innings were skillfully marshaled by skipper Lytton Dass. He rediscovered his form with a stunning 76 runs from just 50 delivery. His innings were a pivotal contribution, split by five strong six people and boasting a strike rate of 152.00, especially after Bangladesh suffered an early setback and lost seven openers, Purbes Hossein Emon and Tanzid Hasan, in the first two overs. This knock marked Lytton’s first T20I half-century in over a year and provided much needed stability.

Hridoy played a valuable support role, making an active contribution of 31 balls from 25 balls before departing in the middle overs. However, the momentum did not lose as Shamim Hossain was in charge later in the innings. Shamim unleashed a ferocious 48 runs of 48 runs from just 27 deliveries, breaking five boundaries and two sixes, and propelling Bangladesh well beyond the 170 run mark. Visitors showed noticeable acceleration in the final five overs, adding 62 important runs to present a challenging target for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan bowlers found it difficult to contain offensive Bangladeshi batsmen. Left arm pacer Vinura Fernando was a standout performer for the host, claiming three wickets for 31 runs, including two important intermediate scalps. Maheesh Theekshana and Nuwan Thushara were able to pick up wickets, but Bangladesh’s slow surge left Sri Lanka’s attacks and felt pressure.

Sri Lanka batting breaks down under pressure
The Sri Lanka pursuit was released almost immediately as the number one order surrendered under the relentless pressures carried out by Bangladeshi bowlers. Home side lost four wickets in the power play. Kusal Mendis, the star of the previous match, unfortunately ran out in the second over and set a tough tone. The wicketts continued to roll in succession quickly, with Abishka Karennando, Kusarperella and Charlis Asaranka all departing cheaply. By the end of the sixth over, Sri Lanka was in deep trouble, and their hopes to pursue their targets had diminished further when Nissanka and Dasun Shanaka’s 41 partnerships were broken.
Following Nissanka’s firing, there was little resistance in the low order, with the final five wickets contributing to just 23 runs in total. Bangladeshi bowlers all claimed at least one wicket, presented the efforts of a disciplined and effective team, and shared the loot in bulk. Richard Hossein To seal Bangladesh’s comprehensive victory, he was confused and hit a final blow on the 16th. Sri Lanka was bowled for just 94 runs, marking the second-largest victory margin at this venue at the T20IS.
