Liverpool has not yet bid on Alexander Isaac, says Newcastle boss Eddie Howe
Eddie Howe says Newcastle has yet to receive the official offer from away striker Alexander Isaac and claims that the future of the players remains “to some degree” in the hands of the club.
Hau was speaking from Seoul. There, Magpies faced K.League XI tomorrow in the latest game from their Far East preseason tour.
Isaac is not in Korea after reporting minor thigh injuries However, he revealed to the club’s chief that he wanted to explore travelling from St. James Park.
I want to maintain Isaac – Hau
Liverpool is on the forefront of the 25-year-old Swedish international race, but Howe has insisted that Newcastle wants to keep the player for another three years on his contract.
He told Mail Sports: “He’s still our player. He’s signed us. We’ve got to control the following for him to some extent. I want to believe that all the possibilities are still available.
“We have not received any formal offers from Alex from any club. My wish is to see him stay and see him play again next year.”
Hau also claimed that he had not spoken to any of the club’s Saudi-owned groups in recent days regarding Isaac’s future.
“No, I haven’t,” he said. “I’ve been traveling mostly and I’ve been working on training this afternoon today. On these trips, they’re always very intense. Of course, I’m in touch with people who need to go back home and contact me, but when you’re away, it’s very minimal contact.”
Newcastle doesn’t panic movements – How
It’s an annoying window for Newcastle, with some of the club’s top targets choosing to move elsewhere. They missed Joan Pedro, Brian Mbeumo and James Trafford, but Joanne Wissa’s move was stuck because they were reluctant to sell Brentford.
Even with Isaac staying, the striker remains a priority, but Howe insists that he will not panic like the club has a rash movement.
He said: “It’s an important time for us. There’s a lot to incorporate. We need to bring in the right type of player. We should never act from personality, we have to work how we have in the window all the time. It’s a strategic way.
“If the right players are not available at the right price, we can’t do a trade. Everything needs to be lined up. We want to add depth and quality to the area we’ve identified, and we’ve crossed our fingers.
