Lycopodium protects EPCM contract for Nyanzaga Gold Project in Tanzania

Lycopodium, a company listed on the Australian stock exchange, has secured an approximately $48 million ($30.9 million) engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract for the Nyanzaga Gold Project, owned by Perseus Mining.

The Nyanzaga Project is located in northwest Tanzania, particularly on the northeastern side of the Sukmaland Alcaan Greenstone Belt, about 60 km from Mwanza, the second largest urban center in the country.

Work on EPCM services to begin soon, as first gold production is expected in the first quarter of 2027 (first quarter of 2027).

The scope of Lycopodium’s EPCM work includes engineering, design, procurement, construction management and commissioning of traditional carbon-in-reach processing plants with a capacity of 5 million tons per year.

The contract also covers a variety of related non-process infrastructures, including 11kV of electricity gridization, water supply from Lake Victoria, tailing pipelines, decant returns, workshops and warehouse facilities.

The deal represents the third collaboration between Lycopodium and Perseus after the successful establishment of the Sisinge and Yaure gold mines.

Lycopodium previously contributed to the Nyanzaga project through pre-feasibility studies, definitive feasibility studies, and recent completion of front-end engineering and design.

Initial mining operations employ open pit methods that may lead to future expansion into underground mining as the project develops.

“We’re committed to providing a range of services to our customers,” said Peter de Leo, Managing Director and CEO of Lycopodium. “The extensive knowledge of this project and longstanding relationship with Perseus has worked in line with the development and engineering support of Sisinge and Yaure, the current operating gold mines of Edican and Cote D’Ivoire in Ghana.

“Lycopodium Protects the EPCM Contract for the Nyanzaga Gold Project in Tanzania” was originally created and published Mining Technologya brand owned by GlobalData.
