Lynn Hamilton, actress known for her role “Sanford and his son” And then Walton passed away. She was 95 years old.

Hamilton died Thursday in Chicago, Illinois, of a natural cause.

Carson also issued a statement on behalf of Hamilton’s family. Instagram poststhere he finds that she died while she is “surrounded by her grandchildren, loved ones and caregivers.”

In addition to her recurring roles in “Sanford and his Son” “Walton” Hamilton also made noteworthy appearances in television shows and soap operas, including “Roots: The Next Generation,” “Golden Girls,” “Generation,” “Dangerous Women,” “227,” and “Practice.”

Born in Yazoo, Mississippi on April 25, 1930, Hamilton grew up in Chicago Heights, Illinois. She graduated from the Goodman School of Drama Theatre and began her career in Chicago’s Community Theater scene.

Hamilton later moved to New York and made his Broadway debut in 1959 “The Only America.” She continued her performance on Broadway in her roles in “Cool World,” “The Face of the Hero” and “Tambourine to Glory.”

The actress played at the New York Shakespeare Festival for three years and became a member of President Kennedy’s Cultural Exchange Program. While working with the program, she toured the world and performed in the plays “Miracle Worker” and “Our Tooth Skin.” Hamilton joined the Seattle Repertoire Theatre in 1966.

She made her on-screen debut in John Cassabethes’ improvisation film “Shadows.” Hamilton continued to make guest appearances in television series, including Room 222 and Mannicks. “The Bill Cosby Show” “Gunsmoke”, “Hawaii Five-O”, “Starsky & Hutch”.

Hamilton first appeared in “Sanford and his Son” in February 1972 when he played Landrady in the seventh episode of the show. Hamilton played the role of Donna from 1972 to 1977.

The actress portrayed Verdi Grant Foster, the Walton family’s neighbor, in Walton from 1973 to 1981. “Stop your enthusiasm” “NYPD Blue,” “Port Charles,” and “Judging Amy.” Hamilton appeared on screen in the 2009 episode of “Cold Case.”

Hamilton also appeared in the films Hang Up, Leadbury, The Story of Jesse Owens, Lady Things the Blues, Legal Eagles, The Vanishing and Bee: A Black Woman Talk.

Carson’s statement states, “Through her remarkable career, Lynn frequently collaborated with her husband Frank S. Jenkins on a variety of theatrical works, including the acclaimed play, “Nowno, The Bert Williams Story.” Their partnership was a shining example of creativity, love and dedication. ”

Hamilton married playwright and poet Jenkins from 1964 until his death in 2014.
