Manchester United “we’re not in the final yet,” says Amorim after Super Bilbao wins

Manchester United manager Reuben Amorim told his players they were not yet in the Europa League final after the famous 3-0 victory at 10 Athletic Bilbao.

United Look is aiming to return to San Mamez Stadium in Bilbao for the final in three weeks against Bodo/Grimto or Tottenham after a double from Casemiro Header and Captain Bruno Fernandez.

However, the manager warned that the work was not finished yet.

“I think they have to think about Game 2,” Amorim said of his message to United players.

“And they’re really difficult to play, so you have to think more about the first 20 minutes than the rest of the game.

“There’s no separate goal so anything can change. That’s my message to the players and I have to think about Brentford and the second leg now.”

The United head coach was asked if it was United’s best performance since he was in charge in November.

“But again, I think I saw two games today: the first 25 minutes, then after the goal, and then the transmission of the game changed.

“That was a good thing, and the good thing in the second half was that we tried to be cautious.

“We create opportunities, but most importantly, our opponent didn’t take many shots on our goals, and that was really important.”

United, or Tottenham, despite a horrifying league season, were able to qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.

United came in 14th in the Premier League and entered the weekend, while the Spurs were in 16th place.

“It’s difficult to explain,” Amorim said of his differences with Europe. “We will improve in the last game, we don’t just look at the results.

“We had some games that we won, some games that we lost and some games that we played well, and sometimes we need a little luck.

“If you imagine the first 30 minutes, they have a chance to score. If they score, it’s a different game, so you have to understand these moments.

“When we score, we felt we were more and more free to play, so we know it is difficult, and that is another competition.

“We know it’s hard to understand, but sometimes it’s the context and that’s the way we see things.

“We can win this competition and we struggle with the game after the game in the Premier League, so try to manage both with injuries. It can be difficult for players too.”
