Marine restrains someone who attempts to open an emergency exit while flying: Report

ArmentRout says the man was looking at the emergency exit door next to him, and that’s when the Marines quickly rose up and placed themselves between the man and the door.
The suspicious man turned around and ran around the plane before sprinting towards the exit door on the other side of the plane.
ArmentRout tells the station that he only had a few seconds to act.

“He grabbed the strap around the door, pulled it away and when I took him and slapped him down and put it on the ground, that’s when it was around,” he said. “And then there was an older, awakened gentleman sitting by his side and he stood up and helped me.”
The flight attendant also intervened and handed over the Marine Corps zip tie.
For the rest of the flight, Armentorout sat next to the man.
The flight was converted to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

“His eyes… you could definitely say something was going on,” Armentroot said.
The FBI Seattle confirmed the incident, saying it had responded to all of Flight 114 Saturday morning, along with the Seattle Police Department.
“That was the flight I detoured to Seattle As passengers were about to open the exit door while flying, crews and passengers who were taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation after the flight had landed had detained the individual.
FBI He also said that a second individual was removed from the flight after being irritated by turning the flight and punching the bathroom door.

The flight stopped in Seattle and then continued to its destination and landed in Houston without further incident.
No charges have been filed in the case, the FBI said.
Prosecutors are considering reports and witness statements to determine whether the case is suitable for federal prosecutors.

All Nippon Airways He told Fox News Digital that the flight was diverted for “uncontrollable” passengers.
“The second passengers are out of control while on the Seattle runway,” the airline said. “Both have been removed from flights by Seattle Police Port.
“The safety of our passengers and crews is our number one priority and we applaud the efforts of local law enforcement agencies to help them.”
