The trailer features Emma Frost, former enemy and sometimes the leader of the X-Men Emma Frost, who invites people from various timelines of rivals to the mutant nation of Krakoa. However, this event is suddenly interrupted when Ultron realizes the extinction of the sermon.

Also, let’s take a look at some of the cosmetics from Season 2. In addition to the dressed up Wolverine, we also saw the traditional X-Men Blue and Yellow Magik and Psylocke. The unstable guests also look forward to seeing heroes like Cap, Widow and Luna Snow in flashy outfits.

New heroes and changes in balance in Marvel Rival Season 2

Emma Frost joins the roster as a vanguard. There is no further information on her abilities yet, but we hope that information will drop ahead of the start of next week’s season. Ultron will appear in the Season 2.5 update, which should be in late May.

Season 2 has changed some team ups, including three new team up capabilities previewed in the latest developer vision video.

  • Emma Frost allows Magneto and Psylock to create fantasies of themselves.
  • Doctor Strange works with Scarlet Witch to use a small portal to make it appear that she will increase her damage output through a rapid fire replacement.
  • Cap finally worked with Bucky to allow Winter Soldiers to jump on their allies.

Several existing team ups have been coordinated. Psylocke, Winter Soldier and Doctor Strange are removed from the old team up in favor of the new team, and Namor moves from working with Luna’s anchor to give the ultimate energy to Hulk’s energy. Two team ups have been completely removed. Magneto can no longer team up with the scar-colored witch, and Thor no longer has his cap and storm secured.

The developer vaguely teased other changes in balance, including buffs, Mr. Fantastic and Moon Knight, and while the strange trade offensive pressure on more survivability and Rocket gained more usefulness, Loki and Adam Warlock received nerf in the ability to regenerate domains and soul bonds.

Future seasons will be shorter. This means a newer hero

One of the most surprising moments in the developer video was the announcement that starting with season 3, the season will be two months rather than about three. There has been a lot of debate online about whether the pace of rival new heroes (approximately eight years per year based on a three-month season) is sustainable. Well, apparently, the rival developers take it personally and speed it up every month to a new hero.

This makes it seem like around three new heroes a year, or even MOBAs like League of Legends, and even MOBAs like around four new champions a year over the past five years, find the boundary absurd. Rather than inventing the concept of their own hero, rivals benefit from the pull of the characters of the incredible characters, and compared to Overwatch, developers don’t seem too concerned about the mechanical overlap of heroes, as seen in the final stages of many support. Still, new heroes each month are unprecedented for hero archers.

New Krakoa Map and fierce changes to the competition

Season 2 has added a new domination map with a Krakoa theme, with Yggsgard: Royal Palace (Domination) and Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya (Convergence) spinning from the map pool for ranked modes, but available for quick play and custom games.

Currently, competitive picks and ban thresholds occurring only in diamond rank lobbies allow players of eternal or all ranks to queue rather than queuing with larger groups.

Speaking of rank, everyone will be dropped in 9 categories in Season 2. This corresponds to 3 ranks. This means that eternal players will fall into diamonds, while players below Platinum 3 will start climbing again from Bronze 3. (One more… again.)

Rival developers also announced that individual players will perform better when determining competitive progress after a match. So, if your statistics surpass your team, you earn more money to win and lose and decrease. This change will help you increase Smurfs and other high-skill players in the low-ranked lobby by making the right rank faster. However, rather than playing the game in the most effective way, it can lead to stat farming. Overall, this should be net positive for the game, given that the rivals are not using any kind of competitive placement match.

Other announcements

Rivals can surprise someone for their birthday by adding new skin recoller to a particular hero skin and (at the end) the option to give the player an outfit to a friend.

Missions have changed a bit, with weekly missions added and redistributing where Chrono Tokens presenting Battle Passes are earned. The developers surrounded this as creating a “smoothier expectations” of how to acquire chrono tokens, but the surface-level explanation sounds like it makes it difficult to acquire progress in the Battle Pass for the season by taking away more progress under short, time-limited missions.

The Developer Vision Update also saw the first competitive distribution of the number of rival players in each tier as of Season 1.5.

Player distribution rank across each rival

Based on this chart, the 50th percentile appears to be somewhere in high gold, with 48.3% of players below platinum ranked below platinum.
