Maryland ju judges will deliberate at illegal immigration trial over Rachel Morin’s murder
On Monday, a Maryland ju judge began deliberation of the lawsuit Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, Illegal Immigrants In August 2023, she was accused of raping and murdering Bel Air woman Rachel Morin.
Morin, a 37-year-old mother of five, was jogging along the MA & PA trail in Bel Air, a quaint community northeast of Multimore. He was ambushed, strangled, beat her.
“It was an emotionally tough experience for Rachel’s family, but they remained immobilized in pursuing justice,” family lawyer Randolph Rice said in a statement Friday.

Morin’s family has so far been present on each day of trial and is expected to remain until that conclusion.
The results of the Harford County autopsy revealed that Morin had survived 15-20 blows to the head and died from a combination of strangulation and blunt trauma. Her death was officially He ruled murder.

Witnesses walking along the MA & PA trail when Morin was still considered missing said they found a path similar to a deer trail with flattened leaves, but soon discovered a bloody rock near the trail, and followed the unusual markings through two tunnels near the trail with overgrown brushes.
That’s where they came across Morin’s naked body, Harford County State lawyer Allison Healy said in her opening statement.

“I saw an undressed human body on her back. At first I really thought it might be a deer or something dead there,” testified Evan Knapp, who found Morin’s body. “So I had to get a little closer to see what I saw. It was human. I felt frozen for a moment and I had no idea what I was looking at.”

Martinez Hernandez, a native of El Salvador, is said to have fled Maryland after Morin’s murder. Authorities said at his trial he discovered DNA consistent with the suspect at the crime scene and was able to ultimately trace him to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The 23-year-old immigrant illegally went to the United States in February 2023, police said.

“We all suspected that Rachel was not his first victim,” Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Garler said after the suspect’s arrest. “It is my understanding that this suspect, this monster, had illegally fled to the United States after committing the brutal murder of a young woman. In El Salvador One month ago, January 2023. ”
Garler added that officials’ first DNA match against Martinez Hernandez came from the March 2023 Los Angeles home invasion and attack.
