Masters News: Coach left Augusta National wearing shorts
Augusta National Golf Club has several rules regarding golfers and patrons, both of which are stated and not written.
Arizona State University boys golf coach Matt Thurmond struggled to learn about one of these rules before 2025 Masters Tournament.

“I went out into range without thinking and hugged it,” Thurmond said. Via Golf Week. “After about a shot and a brief greeting, they came out and said, ‘Sorry, you can’t be in range with your shorts.” ”

“My fault, that was a mistake I made,” Thurmond later said. Via Golf Week. “I want to follow the rules here when I’m in Augusta. I’ll do everything right. I’m lucky enough to be here and thank you for everything here. I made a mistake.”
Thurmond will be in Georgia this weekend to support ASU senior Josele Ballester.

Wearing pants on the course is not the only rule in Augusta.
