Mbappe is not driven by PSG’s Champions League victory
Kylian Mbappe admits that he is happy with Paris Saint-Germain following his Champions League victory despite leaving the club under tense circumstances a year ago.
The French forward, who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer, said he didn’t feel bitter to see his previous side finally lift the most prestigious club trophy in Europe.
“I was happy, they deserved it, they went through so many problems, I went through that too. I went through every stage of the Champions League except that I won it,” Mbappe told reporters on Saturday.
“They were the best teams in Europe. I don’t remember seeing them go 5-0. It’s 100% worthy and it’s becoming a team that everyone wants to beat.”
PSG’s long-awaited victory comes four years after losing the 2020 final against Bayern Munich.
Mbappe left PSG as the highest scorer ever, but later took legal action against the club, sought unpaid wages of 55 million euros. Despite that controversy, the 26-year-old has no malicious intentions towards his old teammates.

“PSG won the Champions League without me. That won’t affect me. That’s a good thing. I think we’re all facing challenges in our careers,” he added.
“I’m in the eyes of a little more storm. That’s a good thing. I’ve always loved being in these positions, it’s up to me to work. I’ve reversed quite a bit of trends in my career.
“Did I leave too early? No, my story is over, it had to be over. There was nothing bitter, I reached the end of my tether.”
Mbappe scored 43 goals in all competitions during his debut season at Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants ended their campaign without silverware.
They placed second for Barcelona in both Lariga and Copa del Rey and were eliminated by Arsenal in the Champions League quarterfinals.
When asked who he believes he deserves the Ballon d’Or, Mbappe threw his support on Barcelona’s rising star Ramin Yamal and behind his former PSG teammate Ousmane Dembele.
