Exclusive: Amir Hassan, a Republican candidate Michigan’s 8th Congressional District proposes a drastic tax credit that eliminates income tax for first responders, including police officers who earn less than $100,000 a year by nurses, teachers, firefighters and police officers.
Hassan told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview that his proposal “rewards the power of the work that protects us.”
“I’m going to propose laws to promote what President Trump has already done,” Hassan explained. “There’s no tax on tips. This is one more step. Nurse, teachers, firefighters, and first responders who make less than $100,000 a year have no tax. It’s a way for Americans to be Americans, trust in the country and pay for their investment in the country.”
The Republican, a former federal law enforcement officer and a U.S. Navy veteran, said he hopes to “encourage the workforce” by rewarding “people who serve tax-paying Americans.”

Flint Native is challenging incumbent Democratic government Kristen McDonald Rivet to represent Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives next year.
McDonald Rivet was elected to Michigan’s 8th District in 2024, but the Congressional District has been detained by Democrats for decades, and her Democratic predecessor, a former lawmaker, retired after taking office for more than a decade last year.
The districts, including Flint, Saginaw and Midland, continue to be democratic hubs in the House, but Trump turned it over in the 2024 presidential election and carried the district for Republicans.

That’s one of them 13 Council District Voters split the vote, choose Trump at the top of the ticket, and choose Democrats who represent the Congressional District. House Republicans will turn to these 13 districts as the campaign season heats up ahead of the expected competitive midterm elections in 2026.
“This county is represented by the Democrats Since the 1970s Hassan told Fox News Digital that McDonald Rivett “is nothing new.”
“She goes with the party every time. That would lead to more destruction,” Hassan accused.
Hassan describes himself as “the son of the district” as several families worked at General Motors, including his father. But under Democrats’ leadership, Hassan said Genesee County suffered when jobs went abroad and the population fell.

“President Trump has increased Fair Trade MarketNow his work has been closed overseas and he’s back in the US and is giving jobs to Michiganders here. Blue-collar jobs, people ready for work now have more opportunities because of President Trump’s agenda,” Hassan said.
Last year, Trump campaigned for Michigan to recover as the auto manufacturing capital, and the president sought to provide the campaign promises through his tariff strategy. Hassan said he is going to Congress to strengthen his agenda of building and trusting America.

“The automotive industry is the foundation of this country and the foundation of this district. But we’re going to encourage other industries to come too. There’s too much disruption in this sector. We need more construction. Hassan told Fox News’ digital, “I want to build it in America and re-eastablish what Democrats already know.”
When it reached comments on Hassan’s criticism, McDonaldribbett’s campaign said Fox News Digital and former Michigan Sen. Jim Ananich “people who have been in the mid-Michigan period for the past few years know that Kristen McDonaldribbett has achieved the biggest tax cuts for working families in the state’s history.”
“They also know that there are lawmakers who have a track record of working with both parties to work together to improve the lives of their working families, such as cutting costs, strengthening borders and facing EV mandates,” he added.
