Michigan teacher, 26, faces accusations after telling her colleague that she had sex with a 16-year-old student

A’s former teacher Michigan Charter School Authorities say he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student and reportedly told his colleagues about it.
Jocelyn Sanroman, 26, was charged with third-degree sexual conduct, Fox 2 reported.
The allegations of sexual relations occurred in 2023 when Saint-Romain was a teacher Oakside Prep Academya charter school in Waterford Township, located about 30 miles from downtown Detroit.
Although Sunman had not been arrested as of Monday morning, her mugshot was posted by an Oakland County representative.

Sunman spoke to another teacher about his sexual relationship with a teenage boy and his sexual relationship with the teacher. I reported her to the policeAccording to Fox 2, the prosecutor said.
“The defendant is accused of using her authority position to exploit the minor victim,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said. “These allegations represent a violation of the ultimate trust placed on educators by parents and communities.”
“As my own former teacher, I would like to contact the police about this situation and praise the teachers who protect other students from further exploitation,” she added.
McDonald said the 16-year-old could agree, but that’s not the same as when the relationship was with a teacher.
“That’s because you need to make your school the safest place for your kids. It’s safe from gun violence, safe from assault, safe from sexual assault.” “School should be a place where your kids feel safe.”
If convicted, Sunman could be held in prison for up to 15 years.

School officials said the allegations were troubling and acted shortly after learning about the charges.
“We strive to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for students entrusted to our care. Their safety and well-being remains our number one priority,” the school said in a statement in Fox 2.
Oakside Prep Academy is part of the National Heritage Academy system, where students boast lessons of “moral focus” and boasts lessons of “moral focus.”
“Our K-12 curriculum incorporates a strong moral focus on everyday activities, including patience, respect, compassion and courage,” the website reads. “Each month, students focus on different aspects of moral development and build understanding from connection, reflection and understanding of applications. This method promotes self-awareness, empathy, and resilience, and helps them thrive within the school community that nurtures throughout the K-12 journey.”
